GBE were appointed to provide a detailed design package for a new residential pool house including engineering drawings, calculations and project specification.
A new three phase supply was required to energise the pool house in a village without a gas supply. To reduce the electrical loading of the development, GBE provided a case to the client for the implementation of a ground source heat pump system with predicted calculated operating costs and pay back.
In addition, the associated coordination liaison between the renewables specialist, client and M&E contractors, was performed by Holocene to ensure all bases and elements were covered. The highly efficient heat pump system will result in lower operating costs and a slightly lower capital cost for the reduced electricity supply.
The pay back period on the heat pump is approximately 5 years, with the heat pump proving to be approximately 4 times as efficient as using gas boilers.
